CLEANSE & FLAUNT by Lauren Napier

May 27, 2017Discover, Makers + Brands

Since I’ve been traveling more often within the last year, there’s now a need for facial wipes in my regimen. Sheet masks are fun and convenient when you’re on-the-go, especially while flying (no shame), but I like to start with a clean base, so the ingredients in the masks can better adsorb onto my skin; that’s just my logic. Remember, my skin is already congested, so I like to keep my layering to a minimum.

Aside from removing makeup, facial wipes are a great option for someone who doesn’t really care for facial mists or refreshers. And sometimes wipes are simply better because misters can come in poor quality packaging. The nozzle can project too weak, too direct, or simply not at all. Cheap packaging can render a product useless, but I digress.

Yes to Tomatoes was my first experience using makeup wipes, and they burned. Definitely wasn’t a pleasant experience. From my conversations with other women, many seem to be indifferent about facial wipes and solely judge them on how well they remove makeup.

While booking travel for our honeymoon, I shot Lauren Napier an emailed about these innovative wipes I think she can develop. Within 5 min., she responded with news about her unreleased product, and she gave details about her new pro-aging wipes, FLAUNT.

Welcome back! I’m happy to see you’re growing. Last year we discussed the progression of your skin care journey, but now we’re here to talk about CLEANSE. Since your last interview, you released a new product, FLAUNT. Congratulations! Let’s start there. What inspired this expansion?

This year I celebrated 37. I have a greater understanding of who I am and what I desire as an individual. We all have insecurities, but I feel more confident in my physical and present state than I ever have. I welcome this sense of self awareness, acceptance and appreciation. There is an illusion that we as women are no longer sexy, alluring and become invisible after the age of 29. I completely disagree. I know from experience. I thought, If I feel this good about being in my own skin, I should pass that message on. This was the genesis of FLAUNT by Lauren Napier.

What is the difference between CLEANSE and FLAUNT? Who are they for and what do they contain?

CLEANSE by Lauren Napier is the all purpose, luxe cleansing wipe for all skin conditions. FLAUNT by Lauren Napier was created for the Gen-X and early Gen-Y women, who have full lives overflowing with work, weddings, babies, travel, and fitness. The woman who is without a spare minute and when she doesn’t have time for her nightly three step skincare routine, can reach for a makeup remover wipe that is packed with skin nourishing ingredients that target advanced skin conditions. FLAUNT by Lauren Napier’s ingredients include noni fruit, guava, lycopene, and selenium. Guava provides vitamin K, a skin healer that stimulates collagen production, beneficial in treating dark circles, rosacea and blotchiness.

Since I’ve been traveling more often, I’ve noticed a need for facial wipes to refresh my skin, and to my surprise many aren’t as gentle as I would like. Describe what sets CLEANSE and FLAUNT apart from other makeup wipes.

I worked very hard to make CLEANSE and FLAUNT the perfect makeup remover wipe experience. The cloth is a cotton blend, plush, stretchable fabric. Each wipe is packaged individually to maintain its saturation levels – enough to leave skin fresh and clean but not sticky or tight. Each wipe is infused with water and pure ingredient extracts to nourish and cleanse your skin’s surface.

Did you have bad experiences with facial wipes? What was that experience like?

My skin is very dry and sensitive. I found that many different makeup remover wipes left my skin feeling dry, tight or alternatively with a greasy residue, some even burned my eyes. I found that I needed to follow up with a secondary product, even in a pinch, I needed more than just my wipe and that defeated the purpose of the quick fix that a makeup wipe should provide.

Let’s talk quality standards. I see your wipes are infused with the highest quality botanical extracts, pure ingredients, and complex natural compounds deemed safe by the World Health Organization. What are complex natural compounds and what ingredients do you recommend we avoid in facial wipes?

I have very high beauty standards and I wanted to ensure that products bearing my name met those same standards. Lauren Napier Beauty products are made in America, manufactured with solar energy and are cruelty free – no animal testing. The main and most pure ingredient is water – the source of life and renewal. Our cleansing components are made with a meld of pure extracts, ingredients developed, curated and approved by the WHO to make our unique formulas.

When and where will FLAUNT be available? The packaging is gorgeous.

The packaging is quite glamorous and futuristic. The chrome exterior evokes a futuristic mood and we encourage our users to confidently embrace their skin’s exquisite future. FLAUNT by Lauren Napier is available on LaurenNapier.com and for our global customer you can find FLAUNT by Lauren Napier on NET-A-PORTER both available June 2017.

Lastly, do you have any updates to your skincare routine? What is Lauren currently obsessed with?

My skincare routine is amped up for summer! I am a sun worshiper, therefore sun protection is paramount. I also advocate hydrating. I apply sunscreen on my nose, neck and shoulders. I use an SPF 55 from 3Lab. I wear the lightweight Marc Jacobs Beauty Genius Gel Super–Charged Oil–Free Foundation for a low maintenance heat resistant look. In the summer, I also include a brow gel to keep my brows in place – Glossier Boy Brow and a spritz of hairspray on my brow brush combats any shape shifting caused by perspiration. When it’s time to cool down, I use a spritz of Kiehl’s Cactus Flower and Tibetan Ginseng Hydrating Mist.
