Long time, no posts. I know it’s been a minute. Evelynfromtheinternets gave me an awesome shout-out in her My Bare Minimum Night Skincare Routine video, you clicked the link, and have been expecting new content ever since.
Where is she? I’ve been ghost for 100 days and for good reason. On Nov. 5, 2016, my boyfriend of two years, three months, and three days asked me to be his wife. Six weeks later we eloped on Dec. 17, 2016 and closed on our first house before the New Year. Dasalot.
Buoyant, busy, and burned out don’t even to begin to describe the past two months. And to add to all of the exciting transitions, three weeks following our wedding, it was (finally) announced that I will be making a lateral move from content editor to community manager in the market insights department at work. If this wasn’t evidence of things prayed for and God’s hand over my life, I don’t know what was.
And that’s not even what’s been keeping me from Melanglow. In August—two weeks before our vacation in Barbados–I enrolled in a yearlong marketing research certification program that has me swamped. Between work, spending time with loved ones, cooking, cleaning, moving, and group cycling, I still schedule time to study. I even study when I’m supposed to have downtime, because the course covers an immense amount of information and I fear lagging. I even had to cancel my December facial! That’s bad. Real bad. I’m addicted to my monthly facials and haven’t missed an appointment since I started in April 2016. It’s easily one of my favorite forms of self-care. But I’m caught up now. After a minor breakout that’s probably related to not thoroughly cleaning my face after washing my hair, my esthetician Chamagne did a few extractions to unclog my pores and got my complexion right.
So what are the plans for 2017? I’m not sure, but this class is certainly one of my top priorities. What I would like to do for Melanglow is expand the header of the home page to include a beginner’s guide static page to help you build your regimen and navigate the skin care aisle.
Until then, subscribe via Bloglovin’ and keep an eye on your email promotions tab for newsletters containing new, sporadic content with product reviews, interviews, and #BGBB (black girl beauty brands *coined by Evelyn*) features when my schedules permits.
What have you been up to? Any new products or regimen updates? What would you like for me to address next?
